Forging Ahead

It's spring break, and I'm about to head back to the Folger for a few days for some dedicated writing time. In the evenings, I'll also be seeing three shows (Vanity Fair, Confection, and Nell Gwynn) and getting time with friends (hooray!).

Honestly, though, I'm feeling unprepared for this trip.

I lost my book routine for a few days this week in a wave of other teaching and service commitments. I did get helpful feedback from generous readers, but haven't had the mental capacity to work through it yet.

My goals for the week include: a blog post, a conference paper, a grant proposal for course development, maybe some chapter edits, and starting a review of one of the plays I'll see. However, I've done none of the prep I meant to do for non-writing things (like telling some of you who might be reading this that I'm coming to town---ffaaaaaiiill).

I hate this feeling. UGH.

BUT, I'm going to take the leap and make the trip anyway because it might not be perfect, but it will be more than I've been able to do the last two weeks.

Appropriately enough, as I write this we're rewatching this episode of The Good Place:

So stay tuned next week for what, I hope, will be a more substantial update that helps me kickstart the next half of the semester.
